Perched high up on a cliff side overlooking the green Paro valley, Paro Taktsang is a small Buddhist monastery and a cultural icon of Bhutan. The temple complex was built in 1692, around the most famous of the thirteen "tiger lair" caves in which Guru Padmasambhava--also known as the Second Buddha--had meditated in the 8th century. Getting to this sacred site requires a bit of uphill trekking, but it is well worth the effort. Take your time to soak in the serene atmosphere of the place while you admire its refined architecture, decorative murals, and many sculptures. Who love adventure, those should be travel to Bhutan. The natural beauty of Bhutan is so nice. And tiger nest is one of most beautiful place and the route is so adventurous. You need to walk more than 2 hours to climb to the top of the place. There is a restaurant that is also amazing. This is one of best trekking route in Bhutan.
I can say it is one of the adventure & yet stunning Buddhism monastery in the world. Be prepared before booking or visiting here. First , practice yourself for long distance hiking or walking up-down hills. Second, if you come in winter, need some warm coats or jackets but carry light one & weather is vary in a day. Third, prepare some snacks or waters during 5-7 hours walk or hike. Hiking shoe should be the most proper one. Come early so avoid the crowd after 10 am.
