Alimatha Island, Vaavu Atoll

#1 of 10 in Nature in Maldives
Try your hand at fishing in crystal clear tropical waters lapping Alimatha Island, where many visitors come in hopes of catching marlin, pointy-nosed game fish native to the area. You can also take an aquatic adventure to a world-renowned dive site popularly known as the "Shark Channel." Don't be surprising if your diving escapade brings you closer to other large sea creatures, including stingrays and giant trevally. • We stayed for the second time (August 2018 and August-September 2019) on this beautiful island, currently run by the Nakai resort group, and BRAVO CLUB ALPITOUR. All perfect on this lovely island: from the reception that offers beautiful bungalows and overwater, to the entertainment present nice, but never invasive, to the excellent food. Once you go, you create addiction and nostalgia... Try to believe.

  • We stayed on this island a week in mid-September, but despite that the property was quite full. It remains my fully positive assessment: excellent cleanliness with twice-daily rooms and staff always busy cleaning green areas and beaches. We had a Garden bungalow and I have to say it was very large and especially at 100 meters of the beach, so I was glad I didn't spend any extra money on the Beach bungalows. The staff were very friendly and always helpful (great our waitress Mina). As for the food we had a good time: at least three types of fish always present, wonderful cracks and waffles made on the spot at breakfast and absolutely delicious the tuna grill on the evening dedicated! But the most exciting part is the beach: having the opportunity to move the sunbeds where you want you can choose both the tranquility and the side with animation (you do the whole tour of the island in 15 minutes scarce). Beach everywhere well-groomed and absolutely fantastic sea with a good coral reef: bring absolutely mask and fins to admire not only the many fish, but also turtles, sharks, rays and sea eagles (all easily visible in the area of the jetty). We've also taken advantage of two excursions that I recommend to everyone: the one at night in the jetty area to experience "different" snorkeling and the one in Dhiggiri to find themselves truly surrounded by about fifteen sharks, but nevertheless I remain of the idea that Alimatha has everything a person could want from an island in the Maldives. Only negative note, however, addressed to Alpitour: wifi at prices not exaggerated, but worse (do absolutely the sim at the airport, it seems to me that for 4 gb they asked for 20 dollars ) and the idea that they wanted to earn on everything possible: on the waste tax was imposed on us a commission (of which no one knew anything) because we paid with the card with a phrase made "so much with the change you earn" and Alpitour staff at the reception highly rude.
