Martin Wickramasinghe chose Sinhalese to be his primary language, and worked hard to promote its traditions and culture through literature. The cabin where Mr. Wickramasinghe grew up has now been converted into this museum, which displays a chronicle of his life and his written manuscripts, presented among his well-preserved furniture and personal effects. After the cabin, visit the exhibit devoted to Sri Lankan folklore, a special project of Wickramasinghe's. It hosts collections of tools, folk puppetry, masks, musical instruments, and utensils. Take a picnic in the grounds surrounding the small complex, which provides an enchanting rural landscape.     Interesting place for a visit. The museum tells a lot about Sri Lankan Heritage. The house of the famous author is pretty Interesting.Really enjoyed the visit  more »

    We thought it was a small place but it was huge! Lots of different sections in many different buildings. Thought we’d be an hour - 3 hours later we had nearly finished! Really interesting.  more »

    Great place to get witness traditional sinhala culture with evidences. Highly recommended for school children's under grade 5.

    A great educational place to visit. It has a collection of unique antique items that boasts about the culture of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) back in the days. You cannot take photos of the artifacts inside the museum. I particularly liked the birth home of Mr Martin Wickramasinghe & how it's preserved. A must see place if you are interested in literature & books.
