Sinharaja Forest Reserve, Galle

#1 of 9 in Nature in Galle District
Must see · World heritage site · Forest · Nature / Park
A World Heritage Site, Sinharaja Forest Reserve protects Sri Lanka's last remaining undisturbed rainforest. Established as a biosphere reserve in 1978, the virgin forest is a haven of wildlife and vegetation, supporting numerous endemic species. Under the canopy of straight, high trees, observe how the birds tend to feed in mixed flocks, often with a greater racket-tailed drongo or orange-billed babbler at the helm. Embark on the verdant trails with a professional guide, who can help spot creatures and explain the array of unusual trees, birds, insects, and reptiles you might encounter. Make Sinharaja Forest Reserve a centerpiece of your Galle vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Galle road trip planning site.
