  • Very beautiful property that Mr. Soulié made us visit with passion and happiness We learn a lot about the culture of this beautiful country We were lucky enough to be able to have lunch in this place outside of time - excellent food Very nice break between the garden botanical and the hubbub of Kandy Very welcome I highly recommend (be sure to book on the site your visit and its conditions so that it takes place in the best conditions)

  • My husband and two children (13 and 19 years old) were received by Monsieur Soulié for a visit followed by a dinner: a charming welcome by this former Director of the French Alliance, scholar and passionate about art and Sri Lanka, and his young and talented chef , at the kitchen controls. No frills or esbroufe but a sincere and authentic encounter in an 18Th century mansion that is full of treasures of all kinds: furniture, photographs, everyday objects, manuscripts on Palm leaf. After the very informative and exciting visit for us 4, we were invited to the garden to share a hearty and delicious meal, perfumed to the point and prepared with great care by a considerate young chef and all smiles. An enchanted parenthesis and a small step aside that will give a different color to your trip.

  • The Centre for Art and Culture SURIYAKANTHA is an unforgettable landmark at the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural capital, Kandy. The house of a Village Chief has been transformed into a functional art center with all the facilities needed while keeping intact its Dutch-style architecture dating back to the 18th century. Its collection reflects the interests of its founders Rohan de Silva and Jacques Soulier – traditional furniture, art items, antique books, photographs, and postcards covering two cultures – Sri Lankan and French. Professor Jacques Soulier speaks English and French and will take you through the arts and culture gallery with in-depth explanations over lunch. Suriyakantha is located 10km from Kandy city centre, on the road leading to religious and historical sites of the Gampola Period (14th Century AD). We will take you to these spectacular locations as well. The center has Pali, Sinhala, English and French documentation and resources for research work on Sri Lankan history, specifically the Kandyan period (18th Century). Suriyakantha contributes to the recognition of Sri Lankan contemporary art, particularly photography. The centre plans to display its collection of historical printings while celebrating new talents with dedicated temporary exhibitions and publishing.
