Perched on a rocky crag, Mulgirigala Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple comprised of Buddha statues and five compounds. Built in the third century, the structure has withstood time amazingly well and has seen visits from numerous kings throughout its history. The statues include lying, sitting, and standing figures of Buddha, with Kandy-era wall paintings based on Jataka stories decorating many of the temple walls. Guides will wait at the entrance and offer to show you around, but make sure to get the best price before accepting. • Very quite and calm temple located in a hill surrounded with nature. There are few temples in different level of the hill. It’s good to climb to the top And there are steps to climb.
  • Sacred Buddhist temple. Up and down the stairs took about 1 hour with stops in between at various shrines. Reclining Buddha inside the caves with the rock ceiling having been painted. Nice view point at the summit of the rock with a Buddhist Pagoda.
