At Udawalawe National Park, 165 km (103 mi) east of Sri Lanka's capitol, explore the sanctuary for wild animals that were once displaced during the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River. Established on in 1972, the reserve covers 308 sq km (119 sq mi). Observe one of park's biggest attractions--elephants--along with jungle cats, monkeys, crocodiles, and other wildlife.
