The commercial capital of the country, Colombo has added modern touches to its colonial-era core, creating an exciting and eclectic coastal city.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Wed): take an in-depth tour of Colombo National Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple, then stroll around Galle Face Green, and finally stop by Vishwa Tharu Spice and Ayurveda Herbal Shop.

On the 25th (Thu), indulge your taste buds at Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre, then don't miss a visit to Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Tombs, then Head underground at Golden Temple of Dambulla, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Dambulla Cave Temple. Keep things going the next day: explore the ancient world of Sigiriya Fortress, then don't miss a visit to Pidurangala Rock, and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Dhilip De Alwis.

Do a combination of train and taxi from Colombo to Dambulla in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and flight. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Fri) early enough to drive to Kandy.
