The 103-story Empire State Building in midtown stood as the world's tallest building for nearly four decades, from its completion in 1931 until 1970, when it was surpassed by another New York skyscraper. Considered an American cultural icon, the building underwent a massive renovation in 2010 to make it more energy efficient and eco-friendly. Admire the Art Deco mosaics in the lobby, and then take an elevator to the observation deck at the top, where you'll have 360-degree views of the entire city. If you don't have time to wait in line for the top, visit the 86th-floor observatory, which at 320 m (1,050 ft) high still provides remarkable views. If you're in the city in the evening, try to catch a glimpse of the building to see its pinnacle bathed in lights. We didn't have time to do other than walk outside and take a lot of pictures. We would have enjoyed the full experience, and will come back when COVID is over. more »
An iconic global centre of the world that has inspired the world with its brilliant architecture, movies, and art. Also known as the Big Apple, New York is well-known for its magnificent skyscrapers, Broadway shows and beautiful landmarks, making it the perfect destination for travellers from all over the world. From the flashy neon lights and the hustle and bustle of Times Square to the skyscrapers of Wall Street and the verdant ways of Central Park, New York City never ceases to amaze with its energy and vibrancy. World-class exhibition halls like MoMA and exceptional world heritage sites like the Statue of Liberty are simply captivating. Broadway shows, ethnic enclaves and shops, memorable lanes of stately brownstones, in vogue bars and diners all add to the urban buzz. This modern city is home to millions of immigrants and is cosmopolitan in a way no other city can be.
We did this and the top of the Rock with our city pass. This place was awesome and I love how they have added so much to it to make it much more than just going up to see the skyline. There are a lot of educational museum type props there no as well that my husband said didn't used to be. The line to get in is a struggle and patience is key but I would certainly recommend it over TOR if you had to chose! It was so beautiful GO AT NIGHT!!
