Interact with an authentic environment and historical interpreters of Pilgrims at Plimoth Plantation, a living museum based and located on the first Plymouth colony. English Colonists originally established the settlement in the 17th century, and now the same grounds host this multifaceted museum. Witness everyday life in the 1627 English Village section of the museum, where the "townspeople" dress, speak, and behave like 17th-century Pilgrims. You also can explore a replica of the Mayflower II, watch a film at the museum's cinema, see craftsmen at work, and learn about Native American history in the region at the Wampanoag Homesite. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Plymouth holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Plimoth Plantation and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

We visited on a Monday in the summer. The Plantation is really well done. You work your way through a Native American home-site and a craft area and then into the English village. The staff in the home-site are descendants of natives and were incredibly informative. They spoke about their people but were able to connect to the current world. The craft area has people creating pottery and textiles who can answer questions about the crafts of the time. The English village has a much different feel. These "actors" are all portraying villagers. This means they speak in an English accent and cannot relate to modern terms. For example, if you ask about Massachusetts the state, they will be confused and ask if you mean Massachusetts the tribe. The biggest downside to this is that it can be hard to get all the information you desire. There are no information signs so anything you want to know you have to ask about. Otherwise, it was nicely laid out and a thoughtful depiction of the time.
This place was so great! I learned so much about how the Native Americans and Pilgrims lived during their times. Everything was so accurate and authentic. The staff and actors were so nice and answered all of our questions. There were even fun activities that people could join! They had a big military training in the middle of the village for everyone to watch/join. They all carried big, long poles that were supposed to be spears and we're taught the positions of how to hold the "spear". Great, fun place to go!
