Create an itinerary including Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct
As the oldest building in the area, Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct offers historical colonial architecture in addition to its fine shops and restaurants. Originally used as a hospital by the Dutch in the 17th century, the attraction was later transformed into a shopping and dining precinct. Pick up souvenirs, such as clothing, jewelry, handicrafts, and artworks, or find outside seating where you can sip wine and watch passersby. Wander around the two large courtyards and keep an eye out for street musicians, theater performances, and art exhibitions, too. • Nice food restaurants that are a bit more pricey but worth the price if you want something a bit more closer to home! And generous beer sizes too!

  • Good selection of restaurants and bars! A tad pricier than other areas (coming from a backpacker). We tried a few restaurants in this area and all were very nice!

  • There are a lot of shops and restaurants here. The world famous “Ministry of Crab” is also located in this centre. Don’t get deceived by the name, it was a very old British period hospital which was turned into a market now.
  • Dutch hospital, by its name really was a dutch hospital. The government was kind enough to preserve the structure and open cafes in the same area. World Trade centre lies opposite to it and is at stones throw distance from the sea. There are multiple cafes serving tea, juices , alcohol and food. Live music is also played here. Unfortunately the cafes do not reduce their individual music volume when live music is being played. I myself went over to one cafe and requested them to turn down their volume so we could hear the live music. A good place to spend a evening.
