Pidurutalagala, or Mount Pedro in English, is an ultra prominent peak, and the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, at 2524m. Mount Pedro is located close to the city of Nuwara Eliya, and is easily visible from most areas of the Central Province. It is situated North-North-East from the town of Nuwara Eliya.
Its summit is home to the central communications array of the Government of Sri Lanka and armed forces, and serves as an important point in the country's radar system. The peak is currently designated as an "Ultra-high security zone", and is protected by a large military base; being strictly off limits to the general public.
On 1 March 2010, a small wildfire broke out over the mountain's forest cover. The fire destroyed 3acres of forest, before being doused by the Sri Lanka Air Force and nearly 300 local residents.

  • Very beautiful environment, an area controlled by the army, located near Nuwara Eliya, with beautiful forest cover, no shortage of wildlife,When you go to the top of the mountain, the surrounding environment is very spectacular.A TV tower has been erected at the top, in addition to an army camp, and the environment is adorned with beautiful flowers as well as trees.Walking to the top of the mountain is not allowed, as animals such as leopards come to the side of the road, and can be climbed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.It needs proper permission from the army camp, we can reserve a ticket and start our journey in our vehicle, this guy has to travel 7km,Full security comes from the military, be sure to do as they say, it is a very pleasant journey, I urge you to work safely.
  • Nice and calm environment. Good place to feel the meaning of a green environment.
