Create an itinerary including Jungle Beach
Enjoy a swim at Jungle Beach, a secluded stretch of sand with gentle, calm waters. To access the beach, you need to drive or hike up to the Peace Pagoda, then climb down the steps through the jungle vegetation, meaning the beach remains less crowded than its nearby counterparts. Pick a sunbed near the beach bar, sunbathe, and have a refreshing drink, or drift further away to a quieter, more deserted part of the beach for some rest and relaxation. Arrange your visit to Jungle Beach and discover more family-friendly attractions in Unawatuna using our Unawatuna trip planner.

  • I was a bit disappointed, the way down between the rocks looks pretty but needs to be careful, a lot of garbage on the way and on the beach, view is pretty basic…. Only monkeys are cool :)

  • Beautiful small beach away from busy area. Few restaurants and snack stalls closer by. From the end of the road you need to walk to the beach on uneven steep section. So no wheelchair access to the beach.
  • Nice stretch of beach. Popular among tourists that visit Galle. If you travel by a car better to park at the Rumassala temple and walk to the beach. Because the road is not in the best condition. Bikes can reach close to the beach but still then it is better to park at the temple and walk the rest of the way. The walk from the temple is about 5-10 minutes through a small jungle area. The beach was clean when we visited. A safe place to swim even for kids and a nice surrounding for some great pictures. Highly recommended. There are stalls along the way to buy pickle, roti and coconut.
