Dambulla — 2 nights

On a trip to Dambulla, visit the largest and best-preserved cave temple complexes in the country, declared a World Heritage Site.
Step out of Dambulla with an excursion to Pidurangala Rock in Sigiriya--about 32 minutes away. Spend the 26th (Sat) exploring nature at Minneriya National Park. There's lots more to do: Head underground at Golden Temple of Dambulla, tour the pleasant surroundings at Dhilip De Alwis, delve into the distant past at Sigiriya Fortress, and view the masterpieces at Pethikada.

The relaxing hilltop village of Ella benefits from a more temperate climate than much of the rest of country thanks to its high elevation.
On the 27th (Sun), snap pictures at Nine Arches Bridge and then take in the awesome beauty at Little Adam's Peak. Keep things going the next day: take in the dramatic scenery at Ravana Ella Falls and then take in the dramatic natural features at Ella Rock.
