Habarana — 2 nights

Although lacking in sights of its own, tourism in Habarana flourishes due to its proximity to cultural and natural attractions.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Golden Temple of Dambulla and Sigiriya Fortress. Popular historic sites such as Polonnaruwa and Polonnaruwa Vatadage are in your itinerary. Step out of Habarana to go to Polonnaruwa and see Gal Vihara, which is approximately 54 minutes away. Spend the 1st (Mon) exploring nature at Minneriya National Park. It doesn't end there: make a trip to Pidurangala Rock and stroll through Dhilip De Alwis.

A center of Tamil culture and language, Trincomalee suffered greatly during the 30-year civil war, but the troubles haven't dimmed the natural and cultural charms of the place.
On the 4th (Thu), tour the pleasant surroundings at Nilaveli Beach, explore the different monuments and memorials at Trincomalee War Cemetery, and then kick back and relax at Uppuveli. In August in Hikkaduwa, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 30°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sun) so you can go by car to Rekawa.

Kandy — 3 nights

Nestled between mountains in inland Sri Lanka, Kandy proudly bears its World Heritage Site designation while remaining culturally independent and colorfully picturesque.
Get some historical perspective at Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Kandy Garrison Cemetery. Visiting Royal Botanical Gardens and Kandy Lake will get you outdoors.
