Hambantota, Sri Lanka — 2 nights

Hambantota is the main town in Hambantota District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. Take a break from the city and head to Kalamatiya Bird Sanctuary and Bundala National Park. Step off the beaten path and head to Kumana National Park and Ussangoda National Park. Step out of Hambantota to go to Kahandamodara and see Kahandamodara Beach, which is approximately 56 minutes away.

Muscat, Oman to Hambantota is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from Gulf Standard Time to India Standard Time, which is usually a 1.5 hour difference. April in Hambantota sees daily highs of 38°C and lows of 28°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Sat) so you can drive to Hikkaduwa.
