The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Mexican Pacific Standard Time (MST) is minus 2 hours. Traveling from Washington DC in December, things will get much warmer in Cabo San Lucas: highs are around 77°F and lows about 65°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Wed) to allow time to drive to La Paz.

La Paz — 2 nights

It's no coincidence that La Paz means "peace" in Spanish, as this tourist center with a small-town vibe offers a tranquil atmosphere and blissfully pleasant weather throughout the year.
On the 20th (Thu), stroll through Balandra Beach, meet some fierce fish with a shark diving experience, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas. Here are some ideas for day two: head off the coast to Isla Espiritu Santo, enjoy the sand and surf at Balandra Beach, and then make a trip to Kiosco del Malecon.

Zihuatanejo — 3 nights

Together with the adjecent town of Ixtapa, coastal Zihuatanejo remains one of southwestern Mexico's major tourist destinations.
