The 2.43 million hectares (6 million acres) of Denali National Park include low taiga forest, high-alpine tundra, and snowcapped mountains, all of which lead up to Mt. McKinley--the highest peak in North America, at 6,194 m (20,320 ft). This great expanse of land, which is larger than the state of Massachusetts, is home to some of the largest animal species in the U.S., including grizzly bears, moose, and caribou. Wolves roam the park, and birders delight in spotting golden eagles, ptarmigan, gray jays, and the occasional migratory bald eagle.
