A breath of fresh air in the middle of the big city, The High Line is a 1.6 km (1 mi) linear park. It's built on a short section of an abandoned elevated railway that once ran along the lower west side of Manhattan. Redesigned and planted as an aerial greenway, the first few sections of the park opened in 2009. The elevated park features gardens, birdhouses, benches, artwork, and cafes, and offers views of the city and the Hudson River. View the exhibit of mirror sculptures designed to reflect the surrounding greenery. An installation of 700 purple and gray glass panes, calibrated to match the center pixel of 700 digital pictures taken every minute on the Hudson, creates an extended portrait of the river. Love the High Line trail! Beautiful architecture, more nature than one would expect outside of a few parks in Manhattan and some interesting sculptures.

This place is wonderful. Inspired, and free to walk across. It is an oasis of calm above a very bustling city. We entered it at the end where the vessel is, this is a very interesting piece of architecture, and we walked to Chelsea Market, which is also another beautiful place. There are a few people selling cold drinks along the route, which was very much needed. Would highly recommend a walk along the high line if you visit New york 😀

Excellent! I wasn't sure I wanted to go when my wife told me about it but I'm so glad we did! Gorgeous views, great walk after eating a big breakfast on the go, and the whole vibe is surreal! It's like walking in the future, the way the foliage meets the surrounding architecture.
